Nowhere People open up about their latest EP “Save Some”, out now on Alia ‘s own Artisjok Records
HOW DID YOU ALL GET TOGETHER?
Alia: I’ve been following Mishulino for a long time.
He’s one of the producers behind the project. And I think I discovered them by records they did on the London label called Coop and the project was called “Turbulance“. And I think from that point, I was mind blown by the music and I reached out. We started speaking about music mainly. Also, one of the artists which really catch my eye was Beka aka BJazz11. This guy is a crazy key player!
Also, my dad’s kind introduce me to him. He showed videos of Beka playing together with Chick Corea when he was 15 years old. The way he plays is, something else next level! Like, you don’t find it that much anymore.
Beka: Oh, come on! (Laugh)
WHAT WAS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
Alia: I think at one point I asked to Mushulino for some demos and I was mind blown to hear them. It Could have been Herbie Hancock. Like the level was really high and I was like: “Damn! Am I going to release this on my label?”
I’m like a super small starting label and this music is like very high level of of jazz music.
Mishulino: It’s also mainly because of her (Alia). She gave her spark to this record.
WHAT WAS EVERYONE’S ROLE ON THE RECORD?
Mishulino: My part was to put everything together. I mixed and arranged the record. David played the bass on “save some”.
Beka: We actually call him The Bass man in Georgia.
We also have great, great arranger, flute and saxophone player Finn Peters.
Mishulino: Beka has a big part of the record. He wrote most of the songs and Luka wrote “Save Some” which is the title track from the album.
Alia: Together we decided to take five tracks to make the EP.
We pressed it and now the the record is here.
