Clement Nourry – AMOR (LP)

Description

After a seven-year wait, Clément Nourry is back with a new solo album, ‘AMOR’, a veritable manifesto of artistic freedom.

In the eight tracks on AMOR, Clément Nourry forges a link between the noise he loves and the melodies he composes on electric guitar, his favourite instrument. Between delicate fingerpicking and electronic feedback, he creates a sound universe that is both wild and intimate, where two musical worlds meet. His guitar playing evolves in this space of tension, evoking both gentleness and chaos.

Each track is recorded live without overdubbing. The idea is one of rarely equalled simplicity: one man, one guitar, one amp, one plug. Once Ted Clark had captured the performance. Nourry then took the time to mix the album himself, seeking to evoke multiple spaces through the tracks and invite a cosmic journey. “AMOR’ has no pre-determined concept, just like the titles and images that emerge from it: they take shape afterwards, like a house built on a chosen plot of land. This album is also marked by deep influences, such as the soundtrack to Ry Cooder’s ‘Paris, Texas’ and Neil Young’s ‘Dead Man’.

‘AMOR’ draws on Nourry’s nocturnal experience, composing, writing and mixing mainly at night. The cover, designed by artist Margot Degert, captures this atmosphere, evoking dunes and desert landscapes, a nod to Ry Cooder and memories of the desert.
